Replying to a Discussion Topic

How to reply to a discussion topic in the teacher forums

When you're ready to reply to an existing discussion topic, simply click the Discussion Title to open the Reply Editor.

To reply to an existing discussion:

  1. Sign in to the forums.

    Note: The three most recent forum discussion posts are always displayed in the central part of the screen.
  2. Click Discussions, then scroll down to see the series of discussion threads.

    Note: Alternatively, you can identify a discussion to reply to by navigating through the Categories listing. See Understanding Discussions and Categories for a side-by-side comparison of these two display styles.
  3. Click the Discussion Title for the discussion you'd like to reply to.

    The most recent text of the selected discussion displays in the upper portion of the Reply Editor screen, and the Leave a Comment area displays in the lower portion of the Reply Editor screen.

  4. Click the empty box of the Leave a Comment area and type your reply.

    Note: You have a wide variety of formatting tools available to embellish your text, including common features like bold, italics, hyperlinks, and text justification tools.
  5. Click Preview to see how your post will look after all formatting codes have been applied, but before you actually post it.

    Your draft reply displays in the Reply Editor window, with all special formatting codes applied.

  6. Click Edit to return to the Reply Editor in edit mode to further change your draft reply.

    You once again see your reply-in-progress in the Reply Editor screen.

  7. Click Save Draft to ensure that the current draft reply is saved. A notification indicates that your draft has been saved as of a specifictime.

    Note: The forum periodically auto-saves your drafts.
  8. Click Post Comment to post your reply to the forum.
